Nathan grew up on a farm in Eastern Southland, where he worked in various roles, from stocking hay and working in the shearing shed to beekeeping. He later moved to Dunedin to pursue law and arts degrees at the University of Otago.
Nathan began his career in Christchurch before spending seven years at a London City firm, where he became a partner involved in high-value corporate, commercial, and project finance transactions. In 2008, he returned to Dunedin to combine his legal expertise with his long-term interest in agribusiness and the primary sector.
'Having some knowledge about my client's business helps me understand them better.' With over 15 years of serving a significant rural client base throughout Otago and beyond, Nathan walks the talk. 'I enjoy contact with farmers and others, helping them make informed decisions and protect family capital—hard-earned and easily lost. I also enjoy managing a team focused on caring for our clients, not just now, but in the years to come. Local expertise and experience for local people!'
Outside of work, Nathan enjoys staying active through swimming, jogging, and the gym. He also likes to visit his forest block with his chainsaw and relax with his two teenage sons. Nathan is also on the Board of Kings High School.
